I figure for it to work well, the cuts should be within 0.1 mm (about 0.004"), and that sort of spacing can't be consistently measured by hand while operating a table saw.
The two most common t-slot sizes are 1/4" and 5/16". These two sizes will cover most every woodworking application. In fact, I use 1/4" most of the time because it's cheaper and plenty strong for what I use it for. These t nuts and t bolts make it easy to attach clamps and other accessories to the t-track.
